AGE OF AMPHIBIANS (2011-12)

Swimmers are transported to an ancient swamp landscape when they bask among shadows cast by Carboniferous plant forms looming above. Inspired by the foliage of Calamites plants, Age of Amphibians manipulates time and scale, lending mystery to tower shadows that shift with the time of day and seasons.

Age of Amphibians is an experiential public artwork installed on a shade tower designed for Reseda Pool by Lehrer Architects. Sponsored by the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs' Public Percent for Art Program.
